They are fantastic! They are heavy until you put them on. The leather is tough, and I mean tough. The boots have a slight curve in the bottom of the sole that takes out most of the work in walking. They are amazing boots!

Boots are very well made. The smell of rich leather and knowing someone’s beat up fingers worked tirelessly to build these beautiful works of art will put a smile on your face for a long time! Wanting to be different (and maybe a bit exotic) I choose the Shrunken Bison Olive. They are amazingly beautiful. While I wanted to stare at them until the end of time (never thought i would be able to afford such footwear), I couldn’t wait to slip these Mana Lisa’s on my gnarled phalanges. What’s important to note, as I wasn’t aware and there isn’t any warnings -just info buried in the FAQs, that there are Neanderthals running around without insoles. Nick’s favors these individuals and sees this as an opportunity to save a few bucks by not providing them. You’ll need to purchase them, or, go without. Supposedly, the leather on the bottom of the boot will contour to your foot and somehow provide comfort while walking on the most jagged rocks and for miles on end. Personally, I don’t see it, but that’s their claim. Anyhoo, I recommend getting yourself a nice pair of insoles from your favorite vendor. Outside of that shady crock of moose farts, I love these things! They took a lot to break in, but you’ll be happy with your purchase. Had these hand-crafted leather luxuries come with insoles, they would have been given a 5-star rating. But, since I view insoles as 50% (if not more) of the comfort of footwear, I have to cut the ranking in half. They receive 3-stars because there isn’t a 2.5 AND these things are beautiful. They’re like the Aston Martin of the boot market. Absolutely stunning to look at with excellent performance. But, if Aston Martin didn’t sell seats in their cars (lack of insole reference). If you’re searching for a wildland firefighting boot but don’t need/want the logger style, these check all the boxes (minus the insole box).

Boots arrived on time but not exactly as I had expected:

The sizing/fit is perfect as I wear a 10.5 in White’s and I purchased a half size down at men’s 10 D.

My 1st mistake here was ordering the wrong last, it’s way too wide/big so it gives the boots that “clown shoe” appearance….

2nd mistake was not ordering a cellastic toe option which would make the toe box area stiffer and not so “soft toe’d” for better protection in the forest working.

I ordered at the same time a pair of “Buckin’ Billy Special” logger boots from White’s and
although they cost several hundred dollars more the Buckin’ Specials blew me away in every detail of build and materials.
“Night and day” differences in the 2 pairs of boots I received.

Previously I have always bought Danner and several other high dollar boots for working/hunting/logging but now I’ve discovered exactly the build and the high quality “nail bottom” construction I was searching for.

Best and most comfortable boots I’ve had in a long time well worth the money!

Checked the box to re order the same pair as last time. Got different size toe box and different leather finish. Not sure why. Hope they work out…

Great boots, one small thing is the piece of leather under my heel is a little loose on the front side and rolls back when I take the boots off

Quality boots. Break in took about 2 weeks wearing on fire assignment in georgia

They are supposed to be a size 10, but they are as large if not a bit larger than my 10.5 pair. I went with the smaller size hopping for a tighter fit. unfortunately, I could not properly determine this without walking around in the woods (so no return possible). I've since purchased a pair of insoles hope that would help. I hiked about 2 miles in them today for the first time with insoles. they do have a tighter fit, just a bit loose in the heel but that should shrink over time. the leather piece in the middle is a bit over sized in the left boot not a big deal it's just a bit uncomfortable. all in all, I do like the boots, just wish they had the same quality as my original pair. Just to note this is all my opinion after wearing them for over 100 hours to date. other than that, they are everything you should expect from Nicks boots quality leather and craftsmanship.

Nicks makes the best logger style fire boot. Not baggy like jk, not weak like whites, just a damn good boot

The workmanship on this boot is good. It fits very well. The sizing is the same as whites, larger than standard shoe size.

These boots came within a month and a half even though they had a standard leadtime, which was impressive. The size is larger than most boots. I wear a 12 in most boots. Whites 12 is a little bit big on me, and nicks 11 1/2 is the same as whites 12. Craftsmanship is beautiful. They broke in a lot faster than Whites. I am overall very impressed.
