Height

  • When it comes to choosing the ideal pair of boots, height plays a significant role in both style and functionality. From ankle boots to knee-high designs, the height of your boots can affect everything from comfort to versatility. Understanding the various boot height options available and their impact on wear can help you make an informed decision that suits your needs and preferences.

3” - The lowest height offered at Nicks Boots. A sleek traditional shoe height typically used in heritage builds. Must come with a standard top and no pull loop. This height is featured on both the Comstock and Manito.

4” - Featured on the Chukka and Aldert models, the 4” height can give more of a sneaker feel. Also most commonly used in heritage or everyday builds. Incompatible with pull loops.

5” - The 5” height is versatile being both a common heritage height while also being the beginning height for hiking models. Covering the ankle gives extra support on uneven terrain while their shorter shaft provides ease of movement. Models include the Ivan and Ridgeline. Single piece backstay with no pull loop available on Build Your Own products.

6” - The most common height for heritage builds. They offer more coverage and support than ankle boots while still allowing for flexibility and movement. Seen on the Falcon, Robert and Becca. Single piece backstay with no pull loop available on Build Your Own products.

7” - Featured on the Maxwell, the 7” height has the same support and structure as the 6” while being simply taller.

8” - The most prevalent height option if 10” is not required by your job. All the support and structure of a taller model while losing a bit of shin protection. Common models include the Overlander, FlexWorkPro and Wellingtons.

10” - Standard-Height boots are the pinnacle of popularity among Nicks boots customers, and for good reason. This versatile height strikes a harmonious balance between coverage and mobility, offering ample support and protection without compromising on flexibility. Whether navigating rugged terrain or strolling through urban landscapes, the 10-inch boots provide the perfect blend of functionality and style. 10” is required by certain professions such as Wildland Firefighting and meets their NPFA standard. You will find this classic height on Legacy models such as the BuilderPro, Hot Shots and Packers.

12” - Just a step above the standard Nicks boot height, the 12” boot offers a few more hooks to wrap the laces around. This height does come with an additional upcharge due to extra materials. Found on configurable Packers and StationMasters.

14” - Not recommended unless required by your job. This height does come with an additional upcharge due to extra materials and labor costs, custom measurements are required. Available on Packer or Lace Up Build Your Own models.

16” - The tallest boot that we will build at Nicks Boots. Not recommended unless required by your job. This height does come with an additional upcharge due to extra materials and labor costs, custom measurements are required. Available on Packer or Lace Up Build Your Own models.

    Considerations for Boot Height Options:
When choosing the height of your boots, consider factors such as your personal style, body proportions, and intended use. Taller individuals may prefer knee-high or over-the-knee boots for balanced proportions, while shorter individuals may opt for ankle or mid-calf styles to avoid overwhelming their frame. Additionally, consider the weather and climate in your area, as taller boots provide added warmth and protection in colder months.
